Off – Duty Officer Was 2 Miles Off The Coast When He Spots This In The Water

Indeed, even on his day away from work, Lt. Steve Mullen was in police mode! Around 2 miles off the shore , Lt. Steve Mullen and Officer Brad Smith from the Jacksonville sheriff’s office were on leave when they cam over a mammoth ocean turtle needing help. That day they were on a watercraft excursion with Fish Hunter Charters when they saw what they portrayed as a 8 foot ocean turtle stuck in a crab trap. They knew they needed to accomplish something and it was clear the turtle was exhausted.”The trap’s rope was circled around the ocean turtle’s neck, and the float was still joined to the trap. Thus, at whatever point the turtle attempted to jump, the rope fixed around its neck,” the Sheriff explains.Luckily, Lt. Steve Mullen could unravel the troubled turtle from the crab trap without harming him and the turtle rapidly swam away!
